Join Our Team
If you notice what others miss, we'd like to meet you.
Birch & Beam is a small, Vermont-based team. We're not hiring for a shift — we're looking for people who take real pride in caring for a home well.
We hire carefully, never quickly.
Is This You?
Trustworthy and dependable — You do what you say you'll do, and you show up when you're expected.
Notices details others miss — You see the things a checklist doesn't ask you to look for.
Comfortable working independently — You can organize your own day and take ownership of the outcome.
Wants work that fits your life — You're looking for flexible scheduling, not a rigid shift system.
Takes pride in a job well done — Finishing isn't the same as finishing well, and you know the difference.
What the Work Looks Like
Before you arrive — Check the schedule and any notes on the home — preferences, pets, anything worth knowing ahead of time.
During the visit — Clean to the standard, and notice what a checklist can't capture — the small things that matter to the person who lives there.
Before you leave — A final walkthrough — not "is the checklist done," but "does this home feel ready."
Wrapping up — Log the visit, flag anything worth passing along, and you're on to the next one.
What We Look For
Legally registered in Vermont — As a sole proprietor or LLC, with general liability insurance.
Reliable transportation — A working vehicle and a valid driver's license.
Your own equipment — Professional cleaning supplies, including a quality vacuum.
A smartphone — For scheduling and day-to-day communication.
Able to pass a background check — And comfortable with the physical work — lifting, bending, climbing stairs, working independently.
Experience helpful, not required — Prior residential or vacation rental cleaning experience is a plus. We're willing to train the right person.

How Hiring Works
Reach out — Tell us a little about yourself and your experience.
A conversation — We'll talk through fit — for you as much as for us.
Hands-on training — At our training home, alongside an experienced member of the team, for as long as it takes to feel natural — there's no fixed timeline.
Start scheduled visits — Matched to what you're ready for, with room to grow from there.
